China Mass-Adopts OpenClaw: Tencent, Zhipu AI Launch Lobster-Themed Products
China’s tech industry is doubling down on OpenClaw. Tencent announced a full suite of AI products built on OpenClaw, calling them “lobster special forces” and making them compatible with WeChat. Meanwhile, startup Zhipu AI launched its own local version with one-click installation and over 50 pre-installed skills. According to SecurityScorecard, OpenClaw usage in China has already surpassed the United States.
The surge in adoption is being driven partly by economic headwinds — domestic tech companies see AI agents as a way to attract paying users. Non-technical people in China are also getting involved; one Shenzhen startup CEO told CNBC he has friends “not even in the tech industry” running OpenClaw. Government support has accelerated deployment across enterprises and local governments as well.
