As of May 22, 2026, users with SuperGrok or X Premium subscriptions can connect Grok to OpenClaw, enabling the model to work across messaging platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and Discord.

OpenClaw’s core value proposition is running a capable AI assistant on your own hardware — from Mac Minis to Raspberry Pis — with persistent memory and full user control. Adding Grok as a provider option expands the ecosystem beyond Claude, GPT, and local models. Grok’s real-time data access and sarcasm-forward personality give OpenClaw users a different flavor of AI for daily automation tasks.
Privacy and strategy for xAI
The move comes amid increasing regulatory pressure on Grok. The model has faced bans in Malaysia and Indonesia over controversial AI-generated images earlier this year.
