Setting It Up
1. Create a Bills Directory

The usageLevel field is optional but useful β flag the services you barely use and OpenClaw will periodically ask if you want to cancel them.

strategy can be avalanche (highest APR first, mathematically optimal) or snowball (smallest balance first, psychologically motivating). OpenClaw models both and shows you the comparison.

The cash position flag is the useful part β it tells you whether the bill cluster is a problem relative to your known income dates.

What You Need
- OpenClaw running on a server or always-on machine
- recurring.json and debt-plan.json in your workspace finance directory

- Optional: IMAP access to parse bill emails automatically so you donβt have to manually update

Limitations
OpenClaw doesnβt make payments. It tracks, reminds, and models β it doesnβt log into your bank or biller portals. The payment action is always human.
Negotiation results vary. OpenClaw tells you when and how to call, but the outcome depends on the provider, your tenure, and your negotiation approach. The data is directional, not guaranteed.
Debt modeling assumes minimum payments stay constant. If your minimum payment changes (common with some credit cards as balance decreases), the model drifts slightly. Review quarterly.
IMAP parsing complexity. Bill emails come in many formats. Getting reliable extraction takes some tuning per provider. Start with manual entry in recurring.json and add IMAP parsing once youβve validated the extraction.
