Daily Expiration Alerts

A morning cron job runs at 8am and checks what’s about to expire in the next 48–72 hours. You get a short message:

All three use at least two items that are approaching expiration. You have all pantry staples needed. Total cook time: 35–45 minutes.”

It’s not a recipe book. It’s a smart intersection of what you have, what’s dying, and what those things make together.

Grocery List Maintenance

Before your next shopping trip, ask OpenClaw:

Limitations

This only works if you update it. The inventory is only as good as the data you put in. If you shop and don’t tell OpenClaw, the system has holes. The 30-second update habit is the entire foundation — without it, you get phantom inventory and missed expirations.

OpenClaw estimates expiration dates based on general food safety guidelines and what you tell it. It doesn’t know if your chicken has been sitting at room temperature for two hours. Use your eyes and nose. The dates are prompts, not guarantees.

It can’t prevent you from ordering takeout when you have a full fridge. That’s a willpower problem, not a tracking problem.
